A bathroom break...

Time to write something again? This blogging is kinda a drag!

Years ago the family was on a Disney World bus, traveling between two of the parks. One rather loud guy was holding court in the back of the bus, offering his opinion on people who felt one trip to Disney World was enough. He said, “I tell ‘em, have you visited every attraction? Have you eaten in every restaurant? Have you urinated in every restroom?” We were especially tickled at his unexpected proper phrasing.

We don’t necessarily eat in all the restaurants (opting for such cost-saving techniques as eating fruit and cereal in our room for breakfast), but we’ve probably discovered most of the restrooms in Disney World. I especially remember a trip when Liv was being potty trained when we had to be on red alert for whenever the urge struck. At least she wasn’t a “fearful flusher,” recently defined on our favorite Disney fan website as children who are terrified of automatically flushing toilets. Solution from ‘Anita Answer’ on allearsnet.com:

“It's simple, yet elegant. Carry a pad of those yellow sticky notes with you. (Well, you can use any color, I suppose, but yellow seems appropriate, somehow.) The adult, upon entering the Stall of Fear first, covers the electric eye on the Potty of Doom with the sticky note. Put the Fearful Family Member on the Potty of Doom, and when finished and off the hot seat, as it were, remove the sticky note from the electric eye. The Potty of Doom will then flush with ferocity when Junior is safely out of range.”

Might come in handy someday, eh?

Here is our brave little girl, all grown up, posing by the women’s restroom in Disneyland (note Russian marionette on sign).

I have to admit that those toilets even scare me so I can relate. The Feng Shue(?) people have a thing about flushing toilets pulling life force away. It is strictly required that seats be down before flushing. I hope that you won't give up on blogging because I really enjoy your observations.
