I've always been interested in putting things together piece by piece, whether making yard ornaments from broken crockery or political cartoons from seeds. Building up the whole from components allows for change and growth, whether the finished product is a garden, sweater, book, or blog.

Finishing off dinner the other night at our favorite restaurant, Joel opened his fortune cookie and got a typical message about friendship, money, romance, adventure, etc. I opened mine and it read: "Guard yourself against evil temptations."
