Yesterday's breeze cause our neighbor's crab apple trees to lose petals so dramatically that it looked like a pink snowstorm in our yard. I noticed my turtle (a purchase from the previously mentioned Bubba O'Leary's General Store) looked as though he was struggling to keep his head above the rising tide.
On another topic, one of the few positive aspects of the extended Democratic presidential primary race is how previously ignored states get to have their moment in the sun--think South Dakota! Obama gave his speech responding to Bush and McCain's "appeasement" slur in Watertown, SD, and on Friday Clinton made her assassination comment to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader while the press corps waited at her next scheduled appearance--the deli area of the Brandon supermarket! Not only does my cousin Audrey live in Brandon, but we're also acquainted with this supermarket's deli! Two years ago, Audrey's daughter Lynn asked them to cater her wedding reception dinner at the Brandon golf course. Audrey stopped by the deli to pick up some breakfast items for her house guests the day before the wedding and as part of her good-byes, said, "See you tomorrow!" It was only when the manager didn't have any idea what she was talking about, did they realize that Lynn's wedding had never been added to the schedule!
So, Brandon, SD, a place where unexpected things happen! I could say, "It's a small world," or I could use the more negative Russian expression that Liv just taught me: "The world is crowded."
